Indications are Deschutes County Commissioners and the Redmond Humane Society are closer to coming to terms on a business plan for the financially troubled shelter. Commissioner Mike Daly says he likes the proposed plan, but would not disclose specifics. The Society in July warned that they were in danger of closing due to a million-and-a-half dollar deficit. Commissioners said they would help keep the doors open, but demanded the shelter adopt a sound business plan and promise to repay any taxpayer dollars used to keep the shelter doors open.
