A golf cart caused a fire in a hay field Friday afternoon. The Lava Butte lookout reported smoke around 4:30 and several callers pinpointed the blaze in a field near Butler Market Road and Hamhook. Two firefighting units and a command vehicle put out the small blaze within minutes. Damage was estimated at $50-dollars worth of cut hay that burned. Investigators say the golf cart had debris packed around its axel that caught fire. Fire Officials say this incident should remind us that the fire season is not over.
