  • Redmond Humane Shelter to close

Word to KBND News is that the Redmond Humane Shelter will be closing its doors as of July 15. Staff and volunteers were given that announcement at a Thursday meeting. She said no new animals are being accepted at the shelter and that veterinarians are being sought to spay and neuter the some 40 dogs and puppies and over 100 cats and kittens so that these prospective pets can be adopted out. Recently the shelter's Executive Director resigned suddenly and Dale Gilbert, Society Board President, admitted that the society was in debt but that efforts were being made to make the shelter financially viable. Mr. Gilbert did not return KBND's phone call Thursday afternoon.
